Who works at the KFN?

A total of 14 academic staff members are currently employed at the KFN, seven women and seven men, representing the following disciplines: psychology, sociology, law, education, and media studies. The KFN team also includes seven non-academic staff members, some of whom hold part-time positions, and between twelve and fifteen graduate assistants. The post-doctoral staff members (currently seven) hold part-time lectureships at the universities of Hanover, FU Berlin, Bremen and Hamburg, and at the Technical University of Braunschweig.
Most of the academic staff have been at the KFN for between three and seven years. They are expected to work on a doctoral or habilitation thesis and to obtain the qualifications required for a university career. Most of them have a standard contract of employment with the institute. Since the beginning of 2000, the institute has also awarded doctoral and habilitation candidates with scholarships of 1,200 respectively 1,640 per month for a period of two to three years.
Since 1990, five habilitation theses, including one accumulated habilitation, and twelve doctoral theses have been completed at the KFN. Of the doctoral theses, seven were awarded the grade summa cum laude (with highest distinction), and five were given magna cum laude (with great distinction). Since 1990, eleven members of the institute �s academic staff were offered posts at a university or college - three as university professors, two as college professors, and five as graduate teaching and research assistants, in some cases with externally funded posts.
